Today, I want to talk directly fo my fellow Marriagepreneurs! Last week, I was asking myself “what do I wish another married man or woman had told me when I started this business?’” So we're going to talk about the intricate connection between our personal relationships and the success of our businesses. You should not be surprised that the mood and character of your relationship can significantly influence your entrepreneurial journey. So, buckle up, Buttercup and let's explore how our dynamics as a couple manifest in our business and why it's crucial to address them for optimal growth.
The Culture Connection:
Just like every relationship has its unique culture, businesses also develop their own distinct vibe and atmosphere. The mood between spouses can seep into the workplace and shape the overall work environment. If you and your partner maintain a positive, supportive dynamic, it's likely to foster a healthy and harmonious company culture. On the other hand, if tension, arguments, and disagreements prevail, it can create a toxic atmosphere that inhibits productivity and stifles creativity. When Jesse and I are mad at each other on the truck or in the restaurant, our employees have told us they can feel the choke in the air. That’s not good!

It's all about creating a sense of purpose and belonging, which is exactly what top talent looks for. We’re going to talk about some of these over time but when valuable time and energy are wasted on arguments and disputes, it leaves little room for focusing on vital aspects like marketing, operations, and finance. This diversion can hinder your business's growth potential and rob it of its optimum success.
The Danger of A Toxic Culture: Exploitation and Theft
Exploitation and theft may sound like strong words, but they will ultimately result from any toxic business culture.
